I’m headed to work in the morning. Yes, I know, same ‘ol, same ‘ol for a lot of you. And I work every day too but normally it’s in the comfort of my sunroom at home and tomorrow I’ll be headed up to the "big city" to the office to work. And just last week my domain got put on the big no-no firewall list and I can’t view any of my site from the network. So until about 5pm tomorrow, I will not have access to my site. This will be a record I think and I’m really not looking forward to it. AT. ALL. Especially since I’m enjoying SO MANY of you commenting to enter my giveaway and I’m just lovin’ seeing it all come in and visiting your sites. So, it’s almost 1AM and I am going to be TIRED tomorrow at work. So Adios for now.

Google is not cooperating but I once heard that a person changes careers 7 times in their lifetime. Maybe I’m way off on that because I have a lot of jobs left to do if that’s the case. So far in my life, these are the jobs I’ve held.
I worked a few times at a movie rental place but I was fired because I wouldn’t work the Christmas holiday. Their loss. I could have been a fabulous DVD checker outer.
I worked at a ice cream parlor. I was named the Banana Split Queen and I still have a strong right arm from scooping the frozen ice cream.
I worked for a realtor as an assistant. I worked mainly on her flyers. I also worked for the real estate as the secretary on Saturdays. But I did everything from balancing her checkbook, getting her car washed, licking envelopes to making copies of contracts.
I worked as an intern at a paper manufacturer. I was a developer there. Did some small stuff in Access but actually learned some top-notch object-oriented programming there.
My first job out of college was a IT consultant as a developer and I’ve only had two contracts. One for 6 months for a small shipping company that was based out of Lebanon and this one for 6 1/2 years for a large financial company.
So that’s it. Five jobs total and two of them in the same field. Wonder what else I’ll do…

So we had a person at work today that emailed a very large distribution list…like probably a hundred or several hundred people on it. Apparently the list was alot large than it needed to be and several people kept emailing the entire list to say they wanted removed from the list. People start emailing the entire list to say quit emailing the entire list. One guy finally emails this to the entire list.
That is HI-larious! I find it so humorous today that I email the guy back (not the entire list) and say, “THAT was hilarious.”

So ‘member that huge raise from my client manager I thought I was going to get? You know, just for being a great employee (well, contractor technically)? Yeah, well, not happening. And oh yeah, today I got a call from my contracting company and I’m not getting anything for my annual raise either.
I’m so bummed and mad and frustrated. I want out of that contracting company pronto. But you know, non-compete clauses and political stuff like that keep me from making the jump in a skinny minute.
My client manager and contracting manager are all supposed to have a conversation next week and maybe they can work out something so the contracting company doesn’t eat all of it and I get some pennies as least.

I have had absolutely nothing interesting to say today because all I’ve done is WORK. I worked 10 hours as of 7pm tonight and still need to put another hour in and some of that includes at 12:45 in the morning when we receive a file. I guess it could wait until the morning and that’s fine if I fall asleep and don’t wake up to do it but if I’m up, I won’t be able to sleep knowing it’s not taken care of. I’m just anal like that I guess.
Tomorrow I had planned on going into the office at lunch and then working really late tomorrow night for an implementation—as in maybe until midnight–but today I just found out some things I had planned on doing next week are due tomorrow. So looks like tomorrow is going to be an extremely long work day for me.

So St called me today confirming he wanted me to work on the new church’s youth group web site. And he won’t let me do it for free as long as I attend there. I did our current youth group’s web site but that was free of charge….I also did my mom’s web site but that was free of charge as well. So I had no idea what a fair price of a custom web site was. I’ve asked some people in-the-know and it seems $600 seems to be a fair, minimum price for a package deal. I don’t feel comfortable charging the full price as I feel like it is a ministry thing for me as well as St is a friend and it’s for a church AND I don’t know Flash, which is what he wants to do. So I’m not sure what I’ll tell him. I’m excited to learn Flash, which I’ve been wanting to do for years now but never got a copy of the software and never really had any reason to learn it. So I’m thinking I’m going to be pretty busy in the near future and knowing St, we’ll be working on it heads down and until it’s EXACTLY how he wants it.

Hadn’t really planned on it, but I think this weekend is going to be busy. Tonight I think we’re going to try to go see the Charlotte Knights and the the NewSong concert with a couple youth. Tomorrow morning we might help with a local block party with the church. Tomorrow is also Heather’s birthday and she wants us all to get so Bourne Ultimatum together. And then Sunday the pastor is taking the youth to some surprise location. So I think today is the calm before the storm. Or at least it seems calm to me…I’m at the office today and it’s so quiet here!

Gah, ok, I ended up at another work party yesterday around 2:30. MIL usually picks the girls up but she was going to late so I took them to Scott’s gm’s. They had food and a white elephant exchange. Apparently I missed all the entertainment at the after party but it was decent. Good to see everyone at work. Sometimes I feel so isolated working from home.
So then we also had our youth Christmas cotillion last night. It went well…food, white elephant exchage and some karoke. We kinda ran out of time and only got 3 songs in before people’s parents started showing up. I wore a dress from a work Christmas party 5 years ago that no one ever really saw me in. It was a tad outdated, nothing I would buy now but it was nice enough. None of the youth were looking at me, it was more about them so I wasn’t concerned–gah, I’ve turned into a chaperone!
So I think we’re done with typical parties. We’re having some family/friends over tonight and then that’s all until our normal family stuff Christmas Eve/Christmas. Thank goodness, it’s been a whirlwind this season.

I worked my butt off last week. Put in 10 extra hours. I didn’t get to the gym at all, didn’t do much at all except watch my shows at night. So not much to report from last week. I did go to the office last week for the afternoon. Had a nice day out I guess you could say. Finally met someone after working with them through email/chat/phone for 6 years! The bad thing is she only lives 15 minutes from me physically. We never could work out meeting up though.

I ended up working 43 hours last week. That’s 13 hours above my normal work week. That’s ridiculous. I got everything fixed and it’s all working, but whew. And it’s not slowing down either. I’ve got a lot to do this week and next week. But I think I can do it in my regular work hours. Hopefully anyway.

So last night one of my jobs at work blew up and I’m having to scramble to get it fixed before the next run at 5. I hate putting in new code. Always something you didn’t think of to fix and you look really dumb because you didn’t think of it to start with. ugh.
And as of last night, I had all my part-time hours in. I technically could have taken until Monday off. But no, I have to fix all this stuff. At least I get paid for any hours I work over my set hours. My next few checks should be GOOD.

Jobs at work finally completed successfully this evening…whew! We still have some work to do but that was the stressful part. Today the BA met with the business customers and he said they were all very appreciative of me of the hard work I’ve done and they know ”behind every good man is Amy doing the work!” I want that on a t-shirt!
