Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Shows I’ll Be Checking Out This Fall

I have enjoyed watching exactly ZERO TV this summer.  Yes, Friday Night Lights was on NBC but honestly that Friday night schedule didn’t work out for me too well.  I would really like to continue the no TV into the fall but I really do love these shows.  Many I will DVR and watch later but this is my list for now.

1. Monday – Lone Star

lonestar_horiz_group_v1f_330

This is a new one with “Tyra” from Friday Night Lights.  I can’t NOT check it out and all the entertainment blogs are raving about it.

2. Monday – Hawaii Five-0

Former LOST star turned police officer?  I’m in. But I’ll ditch it fast if it’s not amazing.

3. Tuesday – Parenthood

Parenthood is funny and dramatic and real.

4. Tuesday – One Tree Hill

2010-08-24_1043 Well, duh.

5. Tuesday – Glee

This one honestly could come or go.  Even last season I was mainly watching from DVR and it’s another I’ll ditch if it’s not amazing.

6.  Wednesday – Hellcats

I have to check this one out at least.  I loved Bring It On and I love Ashley Tisdale.  Plus it has One Tree Hill alum Robbie Jones.

7. Wednesday – Modern Family

Not to be missed!  Hilarious TV!  Also one of of few shows Scott and I will watch together.

8. Thursday – Vampire Diaries

Going into this season, it’s one of my favorites.  Drama!!

9. Thursday – My Generation

This one is going to be interesting.  Two Friday Night Lights alums are in this and I definitely want to see what it’s about.

10. Thursday – Grey’s Anatomy

greys-anatomy-season-6-01

Um, hello?  I’m an original Grey’s fan.  Watch it.  Own it.  Love it.  Seriously.

And optionally Dexter.  I don’t have Showtime so I won’t be able to watch but if people start chattering about how good it is, I might have to break down and get it for a few months.

Obviously, I’m a drama fan!  With endless time, there are many more fabulous shows I would like to add (Lie to Me, Big Bang Theory, Chuck, The Middle, House, How I Met Your Mother) but 2-3hrs/night is already too much!

What’s on your must-see list for the fall?  What am I missing? I found FNL from a comment on my list last year!

  1. Poppy says:

I really want to try out Raising Hope because I love Martha Plimptom and Cloris Leachman, plus it looks like a silly take on Raising Arizona, but without the kidnapping.

Hellcats? Hmmmmm, will have to investigate.

  2. rebeccannb says:

Mine will be NCIS and NCIS LA. :) And of course OTH!

  3. I'm totally going to at least try the new JJ Abrams show, Undercovers. C'mon…JJ Abrams! :)
My son also told me about a show called The Event, which is touted as being the best of both "Lost" and "24." Plus, it features the adorable Jason Ritter.

  4. bennettaj says:

Oh, JJ Abrams? I might have to check it out. How have I not heard of this?

    Jason Ritter? Love.

  5. bennettaj says:

Hellcats is your normal Teen drama fare.

  6. bennettaj says:

    Yes, your beloved NCIS :)

  7. Stacey N. says:

Can't wait for new Parenthood and Vampire Diaries!!! I finally saw a preview for Hellcats the other night, I might have to check it out too.

  8. Clarabella says:

I am with you on Glee, Parenthood, VD & Modern Family, even though I have to watch VD online since they won't give us the CW for free around here. It's really a crime.
Anywho…I'd really like to give Hawaii 5-0 a chance b/c I love ALL the actors, but I just don't have any faith it will be good. Hopefully, I'll be proven wrong.
Also, I'm googling the others I hadn't heard of now…
Oh, and yeah, I think The Event will be good as long as it goes the way of "LOST" instead of the way of, say, "FlashForward."

  9. bennettaj says:

I'm really tentative about Hawaii 5-0 as well. I hope it's not the normal cop/drama formula every week.

I think you should definitely give My Generation a chance…it's about kids that graduated from high school in the late 90s and they are following them 10 years later. Has a lot to do with current events, etc. I think we are definitely the target audience…

  10. Heather says:

Glee. That's all I watch. But we don't have cable, so I'll catch it on Hulu the day after or so… :D

  11. Carolyn says:

The only show that is MUST see for me is The Vampire Diaries. I'm so excited to pick up my Season 1 DVD's next Tuesday I can't stand it! The Season 2 promo was one of CW's best ever.
Most of the rest of the shows I like are hit and miss with the kids' activities and me remembering to DVR them. Glee and OTH are on Tuesday when the kids have Gateway (Youth Group) so I will miss the beginning/end of at least one of them. Castle is a show I love but it keeps moving around so I may just wait for the DVD's.
There are lots of shows I would love to try but have never seen one episode. This would include LOST, FNL, Greys, Modern Family. I'm hopelessly behind!

  12. Kaitlin says:

Okay, so my list is almost the same EXCEPT: I haven't started watching Modern Family YET. It will make it on to my list. I definitely recommend How I Met Your Mother, and my mom got me in to Private Practice last year! I seriously doubt I'll check out Hawaii 5-0 even though I loved Jin.

Shows I'm most anticipating: Glee and Vampire Diaries. Wow, that doesn't make me sound my age at all. HA!

  13. bennettaj says:

    Yes, I loved that promo!

And you MUST watch all of LOST, FNL, Greys, Modern Family

  14. bennettaj says:

I'll trade you Everwood for Modern Family ;)

I gave up Private Practice 2 season ago. It's good, just not enough for my busy Thursday.

No Hawaii 5-0?? Come on! I need your input!

  15. rebeccannb says:

Yes, sadly its quite the addiction to watch! :) My whole family makes fun of me for being so captivated by it. lol

  16. ohamanda says:

DANIEL DAE KIM. Yes, I am watching that.

Also. HIMYM and BBT are must-watch. You'll have to squeeze them in—it's only 20 minutes on a DVR! ;)

And Undercovers? Have not heard about that either! On my way to find a good premiere calendar!!

    a

  17. rebeccannb says:

Do you think My Generation is a remake of the show Reunion that was on Fox several years ago? I am going to try to at least watch one episode b/c it seems a bit intriguing.

  18. Amy says:

Love the list :) I, too, am hoping Hawaii Five-O is not a disappointment!

I have to admit, I love the new show on USA, Covert Affairs… and I'm hoping Human Target comes back.

Not that I ever watch any of these shows "live." Thank goodness for DVR!
    :)

  19. bennettaj says:

I've heard good stuff about Covert Affairs but have never seen it.

  20. Amy says:

I can't believe you watch Modern Family, but not the Middle. It took us a few episodes to get into it, but now we watch them over and over. Those 2 shows are great to watch with our kids.

  21. Mary says:

I'll be checking out My Generation, although I'm already nervous. It reminds me (in theory) of Reunion, which got cancelled too fast!
